Type I Hard Hats - reduce the force of impact resulting from a blow to the top of the head.


Type II Hard Hats - designed to provide protection against both side impact and blows to the top of the head. Locations in your workplace requiring Type II protection will be determined by your Safety Management.

 

Bump Caps - offer light protection and do not protect against impact or blows to the top or side of the head.


Headgear Suspensions -
available with ratchet or pinlock adjustment.

Hard Hat Standards Protect You!
In September 1997, ANSI revised the Z89.1 standard, creating ANSI Z89.1-1997. Prior to the change, all hard hats were grouped as Type I. This revision contains new types and classifications of hard hats.

ANSI Z87.1-1997 also changed the designations for the 3 electrical protection classes that apply to both Type I and Type II hard hats. Testing requirements remain the same.
